Quotes:
"YOU will not see the end of this day!" —Battle intro in Mortal Kombat (2011)
"Ancient Greece knew no warrior more bloodthirsty than Kratos, who for a time was the god of war. Mortal once more, Kratos withdrew from the age-old clash between men and gods. But his solitude was shattered when he was ripped from space and time. As his madness subsided, Kratos found himself in present-day Outworld, kneeling before Shao Kahn. To ensure his victory in Mortal Kombat, the emperor had invoked an ancient ritual, sacrificing the souls of his vanguard to summon and enslave the most powerful warrior of all time. But the spell alone could not contain Kratos, who soon regained his free will. Enraged by Shao Kahn's arrogance, Kratos vowed to sever the warlord's spine from his body. The God of War had returned to the fray."
"Shao Kahn was dead. The God of War had prevailed. The spell that had summoned him began to reverse. Slowly fading from this place and time, Kratos was visited by Raiden and Fujin. Although he didn't consider them enemies, Kratos had never been well-liked by the gods. He prepared to fight.
To his surprise, they bowed before him, a show of respect he hadn't seen from an immortal in a long time. Raiden explained that, although his motives weren't pure, Kratos had saved Earthrealm. It was a debt of gratitude. Returning to his own world, Kratos nodded silently.
His change of heart might prove useful someday. Debts of gratitude often come at a high price."
Also known as the Ghost of Sparta, Kratos (from Cratos, strength; Kratos, power. In Ancient Greek Κράτος Krátos, in Latin Cratus. In Japanese クレイトス Kureitosu) is the protagonist of the God of War video game series, by Sony for PlayStation 2 and 3. His popularity has led to his participation in several other titles (Hot Shot Golf: Out of Bounds, Little Big Planet, Mod Nation Racers, and PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale), marking his second appearance in a fighting game, following his role in Namco Bandai's SoulCalibur: Broken Destiny for PSP. Kratos is exclusive to the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions of Mortal Kombat (2011), and although he is part of the character selection, he does not appear in Story Mode. and his abilities in this game are basically the same as those seen in God of War 3.
Unaware of his father's true identity, Kratos lived in Sparta, Greece, with his brother Deimos and his mother. Deimos had strange birthmarks on his body, which is why he was kidnapped by Ares and Athena to prevent the prophecy of the Marked Warrior from being fulfilled (The fall of Olympus will not be at the hands of the Titans, but of the Marked Warrior. Whoever controls him will also control the fate of Olympus). To honor his fallen brother, Kratos drew a tattoo on his body similar to those marks. While Deimos was being tortured by Thanatos, the god of death, Kratos rose to become a distinguished general of the Spartan troops, known for his violent but effective tactics. He began commanding fifty men, which soon grew to thousands. The general achieved many victories until his defeat by the Barbarians of the East. On the verge of death before his enemy, Kratos offered his life to Ares, the god of war: victory in exchange for fulfilling the god's will. And so Kratos was armed with the Blades of Chaos, two broad-bladed steel blades chained to his arms, with which he beheaded the barbarian who threatened to take his life. From that day forward, the Spartan general made a promise that would condemn him for life.
Every city that worshipped Athena was violently converted to Ares by Kratos and his army; each invasion resulted in a certain victory at the hands of the Spartan general, protected by the god of war. But on one of these missions, Kratos unknowingly entered a temple, blinded by rage, and unwittingly murdered his wife and daughter, Calliope, despite having been previously warned by the Oracle of the people. Upon realizing his terrible mistake, Kratos vows revenge on the god who once saved his life, and the Oracle herself curses him, covering him with the ashes of his family, thus making him known as the Ghost of Sparta.
Hauring nightmares of his family's murder, Kratos accepts Athena's offer to save her city, Athens, in exchange for his redemption. He embarks on a perilous quest that leads him to the impenetrable Temple chained to the back of the Titan Cronos, where he obtains the only weapon capable of defeating his enemy, Pandora's Box, and finally defeats Ares, achieving his revenge. However, despite his sins being forgiven, he is not freed from his nightmares, and he attempts suicide. Athena prevents him from fulfilling his intentions and grants him the throne as the new god of war.
Kratos is the first guest character in the Mortal Kombat saga.
He is the only character whose alternate costume can only be unlocked after winning Arcade Mode with him.
Kratos and Sheeva are the only characters who do not have an avatar for King of the Hill mode.
Kratos's alternate costume is the Fear Kratos. When playing with this costume on the 2P side, the tattoo turns yellow, similar to another alternate costume Kratos obtains in God of War II: Dark Odyssey.
As in Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny, Kratos has his own arena, this time taken from God of War III: Kratos' Arena. This arena is the only one with three selectable stage fatalities via the Quick Time Events system, used in the God of War series, as well as some aspects of the character's gameplay.
In MK9, during combat, Kratos wields the Blades of Exile, but in cutscenes, he wields the Blades of Athena.
The introductory line, "You... will not see the end of this day," was first spoken by Kratos in God of War III, during his dialogue with Zeus after defeating Poseidon.
During the game, he uses the Golden Fleece, but he doesn't wear it during his arcade ending. Similarly, in his alternate costume (Fear Kratos), he wears this accessory, whereas in the original God of War costume, he doesn't carry any weapon.
The Medusa Head Fatality is the only magic he possesses that he doesn't use in God of War III, but rather in God of War and God of War II.
Even if you perform a Babality on him while he's in his alternate costume, he will appear wearing his main costume.
Certain Fatalities performed on Kratos were changed. This was possibly due to policies Sony imposed on NetherRealm Studios before including them in the game. Several of these Fatalities were changed so that Kratos would react differently from the other characters, given that he is known for being a bold and impetuous warrior, and it would have been out of place for him to appear fearful during some Fatalities like most characters. Other Fatalities were changed as a sign of respect for the character. The modified Fatalities were the following:
In Mileena's "Be Mine" Fatality, she doesn't eat his head, but instead throws it to the ground after tearing it off.
In Ermac's "Pest Control" Fatality, he doesn't spin in circles like most of the other characters, but instead appears ready to fight Ermac.
In Johnny Cage's "And the Winner Is…" Fatality, he doesn't bury the trophy in his head after splitting it in half.
In Cyber Sub-Zero's "Brain Freeze" Fatality, Kratos doesn't enter rigor mortis when the shuriken tears through his brain, but simply falls to the ground. In Noob Saibot's "As One" Fatality, he will show little reaction as he is sliced in half by the portal.
In Stryker's "Have a Blast" Fatality, he will not try to remove the grenade; instead, like a warrior, he will face the consequences and wait for it to detonate.
However, this Fatality was not changed in the PlayStation Vita version.
In Kung Lao's "Razor's Edge" Fatality, he will not panic as he is dragged toward the hat.
In Skarlet's "Make It Rain" Fatality, he will not panic or scream when trapped by the blood pillars; instead, he will try to free himself.
In Kenshi's "Split Ends" Fatality, he will not defend himself when Kenshi lifts him with his telekinesis.
In Rain's "Bubble Burst" Fatality, he strangely doesn't inflate after swallowing the large ball of water, and instead bursts while in a "T" pose.
In Freddy Krueger's first Fatality, "Tell 'em Freddy Sent Ya," unlike the other characters who are startled when Freddy disappears, Kratos assumes a fighting stance with an angry expression.
In Freddy Krueger's second Fatality, "Welcome to My Nightmare," when he is thrown into the fireplace and it bursts into flames, instead of screaming in fear, he screams in fury and tries to grab Freddy before he can close the door.
It's also curious that he shows few expressions in the game, and he always keeps his mouth closed, even when screaming or during X-Rays.
Interesting facts about the character:
Kratos, besides appearing in MK9, Soul Calibur, and Broken Destiny, also appears in other games like PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, and in a golf game called Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds (it's really fun to see him there!). He also appeared as a boss in the PS3, PS4, and PS Vita versions of Shovel Knight, among other games... Anyway, here's what the pack includes.
What the pack contains:
- MK9 Kratos (PS3 version)
- MK9 Kratos (PS3 version) (2nd version)
- MK9 Kratos (PS Vita version)
- MK9 Kratos FEAR (PS3 version)
- MK9 Kratos FEAR (PS Vita version)
-BlueKratos (PS VITA Skin exclusive version)
and more....
By the way, I hid a little secret inside Kratos. Will you be able to figure it out? And another thing, how do you explain Kratos being afraid of a plushie like Sackboy? I hope it was just PSASBR propaganda.
That's all... Enjoy it, warriors!
By the way, did you know that when they were first creating God of War, the creators planned to give Kratos... a friend? Like Link and Navi? But this one would have been a dog or something. Could God of War have been different? Maybe.
Well, I've done something, an update, so to speak.
Since the texture doesn't actually exist—I've looked at the PS3 files called CHAR_Kratos and CHAR_Kratos_B and found that the textures for the blue Kratos and his Fear Kratos version with the yellow or orange tattoo are missing—I've taken the trouble to create them myself.
Something new in the pack:
- Blue Kratos AP (PS3 version)
- Fear Kratos AP (PS3 version)
- and my Kratos based on previous God of War games.
I'll be uploading these skins soon:
- Pokken Tournament Pikachu (or as I call it: Pikachu/Heihachi)
- Pikachu from Pokémon Masters EX (this one was really difficult to configure the UV maps, but I finally got it working.)
- Mario from Mario & Luigi: Brothership.
- Fox from Star Fox 64 3DS.
- Heihachi and Spawn from Soul Calibur 2 (both player 1 and player 2)
- Doc Ock from Spider-Man 2: The Game.
- Tigra from MCOC (Marvel Contest of Champions)
- Giovanni from Pokémon.
-Complete HUD from Spider-Man 2 The Game.
That's all, now enjoy it, friends!
